Role overview
We currently have an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Senior Programme Coordinator in our RAISA Programme, based in Pretoria, South Africa. This role will provide the applicant with the opportunity to lead and support the effective implementation of the VSO-RAISA programme in Southern Africa.

Key Responsibilities:
• Contribute towards setting the VSO RAISA strategy for the region
• Lead and support the annual programme planning and budgeting process in liaison with the RAISA Director
• Coordinate effective programme implementation of donor-funded projects across the region
• Manage implementation of regional project activities
• Ensure implementation of effective M&E systems for the VSO RAISA programme
• Effectively coordinate the VSO RAISA Program team at a regional and country level
• Support the development of funding proposals in line with VSO RAISA strategic priorities
• Effectively develop and manage a budget to agreed limits
• Work collegiately with peers and partner organisations to share knowledge, skills, resources and networks

Skills, qualifications and experience required
The Essential requirements for this post are:
• Education to Masters level or equivalent
• An in depth understanding of public health principles, approaches and methodologies
• Demonstrated experience in managing employees and volunteers and providing technical and programmatic support
• Substantial experience in health and HIV and AIDS programme/project design management, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, including financial management of significantly large budgets
• Practical experience of managing a mix of technical and operational teams
• Experience of working effectively as a team with regional colleagues based outside the country
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively to a wide range of audiences
• Service oriented, customer focused approach
• Experience of working in and understanding a global organisation
• Able to plan, juggle complex multiple priorities within restricted resources
• Commitment to VSO’s work and values
• Able to travel and work long hours, including work away from the home base for up to 30% of time.
