As part of an ongoing long term project funded by the EU and taking place at the SADC Secretariat in Botswana, Mazars is recruiting for a short term position: a communication and visibility strategy senior consultant.
Qualification and skills
Required:
i. Either Post-graduate university degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations or media studies plus 5 years of demonstrated professional experience in the field of journalism, communications, external relations, public affairs, public relations or corporate communications OR under-graduate degree in this field plus at least 10 years of demonstrated relevant professional experience.
ii. Must be computer literate and familiar with graphic designing and printing of a wide range of visibility materials and items; and
iii. Capacity to facilitate multi-stakeholder planning processes / workshops and produce a results-based and costed communication and visibility strategic plan.
General Professional Experience
Required:
i. The expert must have at least ten (10) years of professional experience in the field communication, print, broadcast, and/or new media, of which at least 2 years must be for donor funded programmes in Sub-Saharan Africa; and
ii. Professional experience in advising and building capacity of management and staff on media strategy, action and corporate policy.
Specific Professional Experience
Required:
i. Experience in formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of communication and visibility strategic plans and work plans for international organisations;
ii. Experience in corporate branding and promotion is an asset;
iii. Practical experience in advocacy, awareness campaigns or special events; and
iv. Experience in knowledge management, networking and partnership building.
Preferred
i. Previous experience in the SADC Region would be an advantage;
ii. Practical experience in developing communication tools would be an advantage;
iii. Previous experience in promoting visibility of EU-funded programmes and projects would be an advantage; and
iv. Availability for flexible inputs at relatively short-notice in the future if required.
