Manager, Collections at Standard Chartered Bank Bank

JOB PURPOSE 
* Manage customer delinquent accounts. 
* Manage all FID accounts/reports ensuring its delivered to Fraud Risk Manager. 
* Attend to Reconciliation report on monthly basis (customers who have paid outside DAS to be changed to DRE mode 
* Follow BDMS & Scheme Administrator to ensure lists are received on time together with payments before month end. Those subsequent actions have been taken. 
* Follow up with Lending Operations the lists received to ensure that payments are posted on time and if not find out why and escalate the issue where necessary. 
* Do call monitoring on schemes 
* To attend to customers by receiving cash/cheque deposits and proactively handling administration work for the 
* Credit Risk Collections Unit 
* Mange scheme accounts for the Botswana book which consists of at least 80% of the whole Botswana book. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 
* Promptly attending to customers and providing superior customer service all the times 
* Monthly management of the FID and Reconciliation reports received from MIS and Business(Employee Banking department) 
* After analyses famish the Fraud Risk Manager with the report for further usage and investigations for fraud . 
* Resolve customer disputes in a timely manner. 
* Establish reasons for delinquency. Call customers individually, call employer and liaise with payroll officers for respective companies to rectify the situation. 
* Persuade customers to pay arrears and to normalise the account. 
* From the reports further analyses will be carried out: Check if customer dismissed, resigned terminated deceased or transferred. 
* From there will change payments mode according to reason provided from DAS to DRE or AUT. 
* Those transferred will be re advice to the appropriate company. 
* Action on the reconciliation report received from the business by calling the assigned customers to come and 
* normalise the payments 
* Follow up the repayment schedule ensuring that all received lists with funds are updated to customer's loan accounts well on time. 
* Delinquency management and full portfolio management 
* Credit Risk Collections Unit

Risk Control Ownership of operational risk
• Provide a central contact point and oversight over all controls required to effectively manage operational risk within the country that arises from the end to end processes.

Risk identification and Assessment
• Validate and challenge the first line risk identification and assessment of gross and residual risks arising within the end to end processes.
• Assess the control environment including, but not limited to, control design, control execution, control testing and control history.
• Recommend changes to the control environment or to business practice where necessary to reduce the level of operational risk exposure to within the agreed appetite.
• Design effective process controls to manage all material risks linked to the process control failure.
o Identify Local Control Gaps - Regularly assess all key controls against the country risk profile to monitor exceptions and identify gaps.
o Optimise portfolio of local controls - Regularly assess existing Local Key Control Standards, key risk indicators (KRIs) and key control indicators (KCIs) to ensure cost effectiveness, efficiency and relevance.
• Provide a balanced and informed assessment of all operational risks arising from acquisitions or major change initiatives or projects within the country.
Risk Acceptance
• Review and approve risk record templates for acceptance of medium, high and very high country level risks.
• Accept the classification and accurate reporting of operational risk events and the appropriateness of mitigation actions.
• Challenge and constrain relevant business activities where risks are not aligned with control requirements or risk appetite.
• Sign off on new products on behalf of Operational Risk through the Country Addenda process.
Risk Monitoring
• Ascertain and confirm that country risk registers, KRIs, KCIs, and control sample testing are effectively implemented.
• Periodically review operational risk assessments to ensure these appropriately reflect changes in environment, mitigating controls and the progress of treatment plans.
• Systematically monitor process control effectiveness where there are material risks of process control failure.
• Work with local business representatives to receive control and risk metrics in order to monitor KRIs and KCIs.
• Review and update annual key control testing plans.
Risk & Loss Reporting
• Approve the classification and accurate reporting of operational risk losses.
• Report and escalate significant operational risk events (SORE).
• Deliver Root Cause Analysis reports for relevant events
• Provide risk information/updates to Country Operational Risk Committee (CORC)/ Country Risk Committee as appropriate.
Stress testing
• Conduct, at least annually and with guidance from Group specialists, a stress test and scenario programme for operational risk [as part of ICAAP], review the results and assess their implications.

• Support the preparation and ensure the delivery of RCA for Unsatisfactory Operational Risk event as per procedure.

Job Title: Physician Assistant to serve as Clinical Associate Mentor
The American International Health Alliance’s Volunteer Healthcare Corps (VHC) is recruiting experienced Physician Assistants to serve as Clinical Associate Mentors throughout South Africa. Mentors help equip Clinical Associates students with the essential knowledge and skills they need to provide quality healthcare services to the people of South Africa.
Launched in 2008 by the Department of Health, South African Clinical Associates are crucial mid-level professionals who are helping to meet the immediate health needs of their country, particularly in under-served rural areas. Currently, Clinical Associates are trained at three universities in South Africa, but the majority of their clinical training happens in district hospitals. Mentors are placed at one of the universities as well as at district hospitals to improve the didactic and clinical training of students.
Scope of Work:
  • Assist in the teaching and training of Clinical Associate students
  • Provide mentorship and tutoring to Clinical Associate students at district hospitals
  • Assist university faculty with student assessment
  • Work alongside local physicians and hospital staff to help reinforce the role of Clinical Associates and integrate them into the health system
Qualifications:
Required
  • Physician Assistant with at least 5 years of primary care service delivery experience
  • Eligible for licensure/registration in South Africa (as a volunteer)
  • Flexible, energetic, and positive attitude
  • 6 month to two year commitment
Preferred
  • Experience in teaching and preceptorship, including providing feedback to students and bedside teaching in the clinic setting
  • Can work independently with strong leadership skills
  • Prior experience in low-resource settings
  • Experience in providing training and hands-on support in a high case-load, primary care environment

Objectives

Established in 2006, the Mo Ibrahim Foundation aims to support good governance and great leadership in Africa. The Foundation works to:
  • Stimulate debate on good governance;
  • Provide criteria by which citizens and governments can measure progress;
  • Recognize achievement in African leadership and provide a practical way in which leaders can build positive legacies on the continent when they have left office;
  • Support aspiring leaders for the African continent.
The Mo Ibrahim Foundation (the “Foundation”), is financing the Ibrahim Leadership Fellowship position  in the African Development Bank (the “Bank”). The Fellow will perform the functions and duties of the position at the headquarters of the Bank in Abidjan, the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, or in any other location from which the Bank carries out its operations.
The Ibrahim Leadership Fellowship Programme is a selective Fellowship that prepares the next generation of outstanding African leaders by providing them with unique work opportunities at the most senior level of prominent African institutions or multilateral organizations, whose mandate is to improve the economic and social prospects of Africa. The Fellowship allows talented individuals to increase and enhance their professional capacity, with the intention of contributing to the governance and development of their countries thereby creating a pipeline of future African leaders. The Fellow will work with the Bank for this purpose, for a period not exceeding twelve (12) months, and the Foundation will finance the costs associated with the position on the following terms:

Contract Terms and Duration

  • The Fellow will work with the Bank for this purpose, for a period not exceeding twelve (12) months, the Foundation will finance the costs associated with the position on the following terms: the fellow will receive an annual stipend monthly paid by the Bank out of the funds provided by Foundation. The Fellow may be required to travel to different locations on instructions of the Bank. All expenses related to the Fellow’s official mission travel, including travel insurance but excluding travel and shipping costs relating to assumption of duty and repatriation, will be borne by the Bank.
  • The Fellow will sign a contract with the Bank before commencement of service.
  • For the duration of his/her contract with the Bank, the Fellow will, for all operational purposes and purposes of conduct, be required to comply with the Staff Regulations and Rules of the Bank. Only the Bank and not the Foundation shall be entitled to direct and instruct the Fellow in his/her performance or conduct during the course his/her assignment with the Bank.
  • The Fellow is not a regular employee of the Bank, or is not granted a right to employment with the Bank. There is no obligation to hire the Fellow and there is no presumption of future employment at the Bank upon expiration of the twelve (12) month fellowship Term. The Fellow shall not be eligible for recruitment as a staff member of the Bank for a period of 1 (one) year from the date of termination of his/her Fellowship with the Bank or expiration of the 12 month Fellowship term (whichever is sooner).
  • The Fellow shall not participate in the Bank’s child educational scheme and staff medical insurance and retirement plans.
  • The Mo Ibrahim Foundation will ensure that the Fellow has his/her own medical insurance, child education and retirement plan arrangements.
  • The travel and shipping costs for the assumption of duty and repatriation at the end of the appointment will be borne and paid out of the Funds provided by the Foundation.

Duties and responsibilities

The Ibrahim Leadership Fellow will take leadership guidance from the President, the Chief Operating Officer and/or a designated Representative. Administratively, the Fellow will be assigned to the Bank’s Strategy Department (STRG). With this guidance, the Fellow will contribute to the design and implementation of strategic assignments that will increase and enhance their professional and leadership capacity, with the intention of contributing to the governance and development of their countries. The Fellow will also have the following responsibilities:
  • Advise on and develop strategic initiatives to advance the Bank’s mission and objectives.
  • Plan, develop, and implement strategies for generating resources.
  • Conceive, develop and promote innovations in Bank development policies.
  • Review activity reports and financial statements to determine progress and status in attaining objectives and revise objectives and plans in accordance with current conditions.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned.

Selection Criteria

  • Be national of an African country, residing anywhere in the world;
  • Not be an active, non-active, retired, or separated staff member of the Bank;
  • Not have close family relations with an active or non-active staff member, such as mother, father, sister and brother.
  • Government officials, active military personnel and political party leaders are not eligible;
  • Be under the age of forty (40) years for men or forty-five (45) years for women with children;
  • Hold a minimum of a Master’s Degree in Economics, Engineering, Social Sciences, International Development, Business Administration, Finance, Banking or any discipline relevant to the Bank’s business: such as outstanding academic credentials, relevant work experience, strong communication skills, demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work with others;
  • Have at least 7 (seven) years work experience relevant to the Bank’s activities;
  • Demonstrate proven leadership and consultative skills;
  • Have experience in strategic planning and execution ;
  • Demonstrate knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management;
  • Have enhanced skills in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures;
