Research Assistants (3)
(tenable in Selibe Phikwe, Francistown and Gaborone)
The incumbent will report to the Study Coordinator and will assist in identifying and carrying out screening of potential study participants.

Requirements

Roles and Responsibilities
  • She/he should be part of the development and implementation of a community education plan to inform relevant stake holders about the study.
  • Working in the hospital and Clinics in the study catchment area to identify potential participants to be screened for study protocols.
  • Collecting blood specimen as per the relevant guidelines.
  • Completing paperwork related to specimen transport, and transporting study- related specimens to the laboratory as per the Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Keeping a log/ inventory of all potential study participants who need to be followed at a later date.
  • Working with the entire clinical and recruitment team on site to ensure that retention targets are met.
  • Contact participants prior to their scheduled appointments to ensure adherence to the visit schedules and where necessary making physical visits to participants.
  • Assisting in any other duties as may be assigned by the Study Physician, Head Research Nurse, PI or Study Coordinator.
  • Maintains participant’s confi dentiality at all times.
Qualification & Experience
  • O’level plus two years’ experience in clinical research support.
  • The incumbent must also have professional experience in counselling.

Job Primary Responsibilities

The person must be fluent in Setswana and English. She/she must have 5 years experience in an FBO or NGO environment in a senior position and must have dealt with donor funded projects, preferably in FBO or NGO setting.

Job requirements

Education: A Degree in Marketing, Communication or related field.
                                     
Experience:    
•    At least eight (8) years of work experience as a communications or public relations practitioner or journalist. Experience in working in an educational institution would be an added advantage.

•    Must possess international experience in promotional, marketing and road show activities.

•    Knowledge of international relations is required.

•    Experience in using the balanced scorecard as a business tool is an advantage.

The position requires the following Competencies/Skills:

•    Technological Awareness: Solid knowledge and understanding of information and communications technologies and ability to use such technology efficiently.
   
•    Business Acumen: A strong background in business development and management.  

•    Corporate Communications: Solid background in the development and implementation of communications and marketing strategies to support implementation of the organisation strategy.

•    Planning & Organisation: Proven ability to effectively allocate resources and plan for the implementation of programme activities across the designate region thorough demonstrable planning and organisational capabilities.

•    Strategy: Proven ability to plan and organise work, requiring in-depth understanding of strategic planning and direction and an ability to integrate the work of the programme in the region. 

•    Judgment and Decision Making: Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.

•    Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and an ability to communicate with people from diverse cultural, educational and professional backgrounds. An ability to prepare communication documentation that supports business development and information dissemination.

•    Analytical Skills: Proven conceptual evaluative and analytical skills ability to identify issues, formulate options and make conclusive recommendations.
•    Commercial Focus: Identifies opportunities to develop and market new products and services. Understands the various aspects of the business and demonstrates an awareness of business functions and how business decisions can affect financial and non-financial outcomes.
•    Negotiation & Advocacy: Persuades others and facilitates win-win situations.
