MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

KEY PERFORMANCE AREA
• Provide first aid training to BRCS Volunteers, Government employees, school students, private sector companies or any other interested organisations or individuals, either on site or in BRCS premises,

REQUEST FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST PARTICIPATION AT THE SOUTH AFRICA GROUNDWATER DIVISION 2017 (GWD2017) CONFERENCE IN STELLENBOSCH – SOUTH AFRICA 14-18 OCTOBER 2017
The GWD2017 is a technical conference for professional groundwater (hydrogelogists/geohydrologists) professionals. It is the only known such platform in the SADC region offering professionals in this field a unique platform to interact at this level. It is a biennial event.
SADC-GMI intends to contribute to the development of skills in groundwater management by sponsoring a limited number of participants from the SADC Member States to attend the conference.

SCHOLARSHIPS AT PAN AFRICAN UNIVERSITY FOR BATSWANA 2017



The Pan African University is a scholarship awarding institution to students in Africa and the African diaspora. The proposed stipends and tuition fees are based on analysis of existing scholarship rates that are managed by the Commission of the African Union.

PAU student admission and enrollment are done on a competitive basis. Calls for scholarship applications are issued and widely disseminated by the Rectorate and students apply online. The second stage of the process is handled at the level of the Institutes who establish juries of local, regional and international experts to select students. The Institute Boards submit the final list of selected students to the Rectorate, and the Senate makes recommendations on student admissions to the Council.

Students are admitted from all African countries with no more than 20% from the Host Country and gender balance in the percentage of students admitted is an important consideration. Each PAU student signs a scholarship agreement with the AUC, obliging the beneficiaries to work in Africa upon the completion of their studies. Students receive a monthly stipend to cover their living expenses for the entire duration of their study, including tuition, research and transport fees. Students are awarded joint degrees of PAU and the Host Universities.

ACCOUNTS PAYABLE OFFICER WANTED AT ORANGE


Overview

Orange invites candidates who wish to be part of a dynamic workforce to apply for the above position
Reporting to the Lead (Accounting), the successful candidate will be responsible for processing payments for suppliers and preparing suppliers monthly reconciliations.

The main duties include but are not limited to:

  • Effectively manage creditor accounts and effect creditors payments in line with agreed payment periods.
  • Reconcile Supply accounts on monthly basis.
  • Ensure suppliers are paid on timely basis.
  • Compliance with finance controls and processes.
  • Receive and capture creditor invoices.
  • Check the compliance of the invoices with PO, originals, delivery notes.
  • Manage the flow of invoices sent to the specifyers for approval.
  • Analyse entries coming from AP and GL in NAV ( Expenses and Balance sheet
  • Attend to and resolve queries raised by suppliers with regard to payments and accounts.
  • Manage invoice payment by Treasury through regular follow ups. ( check proper acting entries have been effected)
  • Assist in developing Internal control framework ,Accounts payable policy and SLA's between AP & other departments.
  • Send WHT certificates to supplier on a timely basis.
  • Assist in Cost budget preparation . Ensure that all Orange accounts are properly kept at all times with relevant documentation properly filed.
  • Observing and Implementing of the internal controls of the company to ensure the safeguarding of the assets of Orange.
  • Other related duties maybe assigned.

Programme Communications Officer

The Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) is a regional economic grouping comprising 19 member states that have agreed to promote regional integration through trade development and developing their natural and human resources for the mutual benefit of their people. Its vision is to be a fully integrated economic community that is prosperous, internationally competitive, and ready to merge into the African Economic Community. In order to realize its objectives, COMESA has also established a number of semi-autonomous institutions based in different Member States to support integration. (More information on www.comesa.int).
Since 1998, COMESA has been collaborating with United State Agency for International Development (USAID). In 2012 COMESA and USAID signed the extension of the Integrated Partnership Assistance Agreement (IPAA) which is a five year program that consolidated all USAID resources into one agreement. The resources support various activities in the Secretariat namely: Trade and Investment, Agriculture and Environment among others. In September 2016 COMESA and USAID also signed a new agreement “Regional Development Objective Grant Agreement” of which the completion dates is 30th September, 2021. The Agreement will focus on two main Development Objectives (DO). DO 1: Sustainable regional economic integration advanced and DO 2: East African institutions’ leadership and learning strengthened.
The two Development Objectives set forth below reflect the Development Objectives under USAID’s Regional Development Cooperation Strategy RDCS (2016-2020) and are aligned with COMESA’s Medium Term Strategic Plan 2016-2020. The MTSP articulates the COMESA’s five-year development strategy and goal of: creating an
enabling trade and investment environment, with a focus on market integration, infrastructure development, industrialization (including small and medium enterprise development and regional industrial clusters), institutional and regulatory policies, and capacity development.
In order to actualize the set out development objectives, the USAID intends to recruit a Programme Communications Officer.

Purpose of the role
To define, develop and oversee the end to end collections function in the business unit and drive the collections strategy and synergies as well as manage and control pre-legal and legal recovery operations for FNB Botswana, to minimise provisions and maintain arrears at acceptable levels.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
To lead and manage the Collections Department pre legal and legal recoveries for Home Loans, First Card, Overdraft accounts, Loan accounts and Wesbank for the entire bank
Maintenance of loss provisions within agreed business strategy parameters to ensure receipt of proceeds to minimise losses and maximise profits.
To reduce the age of the arrears book to lower NPL ratio and achievement of higher profits for the Bank
Evaluate and authorise provisions and write-offs within discretionary limits.
Evaluate and authorise requests for credit rating changes of previous defaulting clients within limits of delegated authority and refer others to superior.
Prepare committee papers depending on levels of delegated authority to ensure speedy decision making and action..
Interview customers concerning their financial position, assess, evaluate and decide course of future action to ensure recovery of bad debts or alternatively restore or regularise accounts.
Liaise with debt collection agencies to recover funds for written off accounts to improve the financial bottom line of the bank.
Liaise with Trustees and liquidators to ensure the appropriate recovery when dealing with estates.
Experience, qualifications required for this role are as follows:
Business or Finance or Accounting or Professional qualification e.g. CIMA, ACCA
5-8 years’ relevant experience
Additional requirements:
A comprehensive understanding of credit risk policies and relevant strategic principles designed to protect portfolio quality.
Good knowledge of Botswana’s legal framework
Abreast with economical/market/legal changes and apply innovative thinking to proactively effect adaptations in order to ensure an effective and smart collections effort.

BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE ANALYST - IRC122651

Job overview
Reporting to the BIU Manager, the Business Intelligence Analyst (BIA) will be tasked with the responsibility of providing value-added financial and market intelligence by querying data repositories and generating periodic reports. The incumbent will participate in the design, development and maintenance of ongoing metrics, reports analyses and dashboards used to drive key business decisions.

The successful incumbent will be responsible for:
Designing and developing recurring and ad-hoc business intelligence solutions such as reports, cubes and dashboards using industry best practices for presentation, efficiency, and user friendliness.
Analyzing and interpreting data and business intelligence reports.
Working with the Manager, Business Intelligence Unit (BIU) to develop regular/adhoc reports of a strategic or operational nature as required by the Business Heads.
Ongoing production of MIS outputs and reports to ensure consistent information supply in the required format/frequency.
Involvement in Segmentation process, management of rules and data integrity.
Understanding key business drivers
Involvement in projects to provide single view of the customer and measure performance at customer and portfolio level.

Qualifications & experience required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, MIS, Information Technology, and Information Systems or related field.
At least two years experience in developing MIS reports for Management Level and or report designing and/or portals based platforms.
Banking Experience Essential.
Trouble-shooting capabilities on existing databases, reports, etc. in MS Access/Excel and SQL coding skills (SQL professional Qualification will be an added advantage).
