Duties: The successful applicants will assist the course lecturers of first and second level courses in their tutorial work. Each teaching assistant will be required to work 8 hours per week unless otherwise determined by the department. Tutorial shall normally be held during the day, but a limited number may be held from 17:00-18:00hours depending on availability of students and teaching assistant. The appointed candidates will work under the supervision of the Departmental tutorial coordinator, course lecturer and head of Department to achieve the departments teaching requirements.
Requirements: The minimum requirement is a Bachelor degree with Statistics as a major, with at least a second class pass or equivalent. A higher degree in Statistics or prior relevant experience shall be an added advantage. Preference will be given to currently registered Graduate Students in Statistics.
Remuneration: As per approved University of Botswana part time rates.

-Troubleshooting and fault diagnosis of electrical equipment
-Maintenance,repair work and testing of all electrical equipment in the operations such as HV and LV switch gear,motors and starters,substations,security and lighting equipment.
-Working knowledge of PLCs and VSDs in general and in particular Telemechanique modicon TSX PLC and Allen Bradley,WEG VSDs

The University of Botswana, Department of Mechanical Engineering is seeking a Part-time Teaching Assistant for the 2017/2018 academic year.
Duties: The successful applicant will be expected to: (i) assist lecturers in class preparations, teaching and administrative work, (ii) assist with laboratory practicals and mark laboratory reports; (iii) perform any other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Head of Department.
Requirements: at least a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related field from a recognized university or equivalent institution with a pass equivalent of 2.2 or better. Preference will be given to those enrolled in the department’s graduate programmes. Teaching experience will be an added advantage.

SAFETY HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT(SHE)OFFICER (FIXED TERM CONTRACT)

Job Purpose and Responsibilities
To implement and,cordinate,monitor and maintain the safety programme on the mine and ensure compliance to mine procedures,standards and legal requirements.

Key Activities
-Uses supplies and equipment in a cost effective manner.
-Controls expenditure in line with budget.
-Develops,implements and monitors the Safety&Risk programme in line with legislation to ensure a safe working environment
-Facilitates the development and monitors the implementation of emergency preparedness plan.
-Conducts inspection of fire fighting equipment,fire breaks and systems in line with legal requirements and ensures that equipment is installed according to specification and mine standards.
-Identifies Safety training needs in order to develop and conduct appropriate interventions to close identified gaps.
-Inducts employees,visitors and contractors to ensure compliance to the safety management system
-Compiles and analyzes safety statistics highlighting problem areas and makes recommendations to improve situation
-Provide technical advice in incident investigations to ensure adherence to reporting standards and legal requirements
-Facilitates the development of corrective and presentative action plans to ensure a safe working environment.
-Ensures that all documentation regarding accidents and incidents are correctly recorded and processed on completion.
-Monitors compliance to safety to safe working practices and takes appropriate action requirements
-Ensures that employees are selected,deployed,trained,evaluated,trained evaluated and rewarded in compliance with existing employee management systems.
-Conducts and coordinate inspections and audits to ensure compliance to legal coaches,counsels,mentors and discpline subordinate employees.
-Adheres to and promotes safety,health and environment policies and procedures.
