The opportunity

We are looking for a PCS Engineer - Technology & Innovation based at our Richards Bay Minerals (RBM) operation, to ensure sustainable integrity and stable operation of the PCS IT infrastructure systems.

Owned and operated by Rio Tinto and located in the KwaZulu Natal province, RBM is an internationally recognized sand mining and mineral processing operational leader and one of the world's foremost producers of titanium minerals, high purity pig iron and zircon.

What the role entails

Reporting into the Manager - PCS, you will be accountable for ensuring stable operation of automation infrastructure and provide a centre of excellence service (CoE) to the wider PCS community by proactively recommending best practices within the control and automation arena. You will also be responsible for:

Providing expertise and direction to the design, procurement, installation, commissioning and operation for all automation systems
Technology research, development, testing and governance of PCS standards
Auditing and ensuring compliance to PCS Standards

What you will need for this role

This role will provide you with unique experience in a leading global organisation where you will have the opportunity to make a real difference. In return you will have:

BSC or B Tech Electrical / Electronic Engineering with at least 7 years’ experience in controls and instrumentation
Expert knowledge in PLC design and programming in all IIEC languages in both Modicon & Allen Bradley
SCADA design and programming in Wonderware Systems (Archestra, Intouch, InSQL).
The ability to work at both a strategic and operational level.
