MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Reporting to the Manager: PCS, as the PCS Specialist: Technical Development you will facilitate the business acquisition of technical and HRD competence in the field of Control Instrumentation and Automation, thus contributing to performance and business results. The roles also includes the technical competency building, scarce skills management, support the development of the PCS succession strategy and provide a Centre of Excellence service to the wider PCS committee.
JOB OBJECTIVES:
- Promote and engage in teamwork by applying the Team Process Model to ensure a fully integrated team and building on a high performance culture.
- Design and drive initiatives with the PCS community that assist the business unit in the development of capability and competence, with specific focus on process control systems and Information Technology.
- Develop training material and conduct training sessions.
- Track and report on key performance indicators against new capability initiatives.
- Coach, mentor and guide teams on the implementation of training, the adherence to good learning principles, continuous improvement and problem solving.
- Facilitate and deliver in house divisional training courses.
- Continuous review and development of new training material in line with latest Process Control Systems technologies and business strategy.
- Administer and control department training budgets and associated suppliers.
- Communicate and implement the relevant learning and development / talent management strategy within the PCS community.
- Conduct proactive customer engagement discussion to ensure customer needs and requirements are understood through effective communication and contribution at the stakeholder meetings.
- Continuously identify areas of opportunity to improve and optimize the current levels of PCS skills and team capabilities.
- Promote a Zero Harm culture where Safety emphasizes personal awareness and responsibility.
OUTPUTS:
- Good workload management (resources and time) against available resources and proactive engagement with key players on the planning of scheduled and shutdown maintenance.
- Regular and timeous inspections and resources and spares are available.
- Identify and mitigate skills gap.
- Visibility at the shop floor level and conduct ad-hoc audits on tasks completed.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- BSc / B Tech Degree / Diploma in the fields of Control, Electronic, Electric or Mechatronic Engineering
- Diploma / Certificate in Training
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the design, implementation and support of control systems and associated architecture.
- Experience in Learning and development consultation would be advantageous.
