MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Reporting to the Superintendent: PCS Final Products, as the PCS Technician Technical you will support the stable operation of the PCS control systems assets including both software and hardware. This includes planning, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing PCS level 1 to level 3 automation systems while ensuring minimal downtime.
JOB OBJECTIVES:
- Diagnose, resolve, and document PCS problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training and support where required
- Conduct effective maintenance execution of PCS software applications
- Assists in repeat failures, problem solving and trouble shooting of plant PCS problems
- Ensure root cause to software application failure is managed and mitigated.
- Support the execution of teamwork walkabouts on Plants to ensure compliance to standards and quality of workmanship.
- Continuously identify areas of opportunity to improve and optimise the current levels of PCS availability, reliability and process capabilities.
- Conduct improvement studies and identify opportunities to implement CIP’s and improve business performance.
- Ensure that systems and SEP’s are geared to allow speedy fault-finding by level 1 PCS maintenance staff
- PCS systems Software and hardware modification
- PCS application maintenance and support ( PLC, FTAC, SCADA, PDS)
- PCS Backup Management (PLC, SCADA, etc.)
- PCS system’s configuration management
- System fault finding and resolution (level2 and above)
- Monitoring of Total PCS systems health
- Plant PCS change control administration and management
- Level 1 IT systems fault finding
OUTPUTS:
- Promoting a Zero Harm culture where Safety emphasizes personal awareness and responsibility.
- Conducting regular audits and ensure compliance of the Safety standards is maintained as per the HSE across all facets of PCS
- Identifying business process safety management risk and execute action to mitigate business risks
- Promote and engage in teamwork by applying the Team Process Model to ensure a fully integrated team and building on a high performance culture.
- Supporting the technical development of Artisan \Trainees by coaching and mentoring
- Compile engineering specifications to ensure a visible standard for compliance.
- Develop a culture of service excellence within the section and PCS dept.
- Conduct proactive customer engagement discussion to ensure customer needs and requirements are understood through effective communication and contribution at the stakeholder meetings.
- Manage customer expectations through task prioritization.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- N6 Diploma in Industrial Instrumentation with Trade Test in Instrumentation and minimum of 5 years technical experience
- T3 / S4 National Diploma Electrical Engineering(Instrumentation) with 4 years’ experience in controls and instrumentation
- EB Licence
- ECSA registration would be advantageous
