We invite applications from suitably qualified candidates for a permanent position as Institute Manager of the recently established African Institute of Financial Markets and Risk Management (AIFMRM) in the Faculty of Commerce. Appointment is for as soon as possible.
AIFMRM is a postgraduate institute committed to increasing the extent and depth of financial services expertise and to addressing the skills shortage in the African banking, insurance and financial services industry. Using a foundation of innovative and continent-focussed research and scholarship, AIFMRM undertakes to create the next generation of African finance academics dedicated to rigorous scholarship. AIFMRM is focussed on promoting the diversity of the body of financial and risk managers in Africa, and to opening the fields of quantitative finance, investment banking and risk management to people from a range of backgrounds, but especially historically disadvantaged ones.
The Institute Manager will be responsible for the effective general management of the Institute. The incumbent will report to the Director of AIFMRM.
Requirements:
- A relevant qualification, preferably a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- Minimum appropriate experience of at least 5 years at a senior level as a specialist with management experience
- Attention to detail
- Deadline driven
- Ability to work effectively under pressure either within a team or independently
- Ability to interact and collaborate effectively with a diverse range of people
- Excellent English oral and written communication skills
Responsibilities:
- Manage operations and general administration of the Institute
- Manage resources, including human resources and visitors, finances, budget, procurement and expenditure control
- Coordinate Institute education and training, including workshops, executive education, courses, conferences and seminars
- Manage external relationships, including stakeholders, partners, sponsors, visitors and academic collaborators
- Coordinate events, marketing, media relations, website and social media content
- Maintain records required for reporting purposes
- Prepare annual reports for both the Institute and its research unit
Remuneration:
The annual cost of employment, including benefits, is between R345 813 and R406 792.
