DIRECTOR, TECHNICAL SERVICES

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

To lead, plan and coordinate all activities associated with technical related projects that support company-wide investments. To provide direction and support to a multi-disciplinary team having responsibility over engineers, mining activities, technical services and project development.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop the operational plan for technical services in line with overall business objectives.
• Provide direction and support for engineering projects and goals, super vising consultant design activities.
• Coordinate project activities with other internal department to ensure their needs and expectations are met.
• Ensure that each department manager has activity plans, SOPs, budgets, and test plans required by MDCB and/or local and government agencies.
• Develop policies and procedures to ensure compliance with business imperatives and relevant legislative requirements.
• Manage the departmental budget.

COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS

• Proven track record of successful management and debt sourcing relationships.
• Superior understanding and proficiency of technical services.
• Proficiency in policies and procedures.
• Good business acumen and project management skills.
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to think strategically and analytically with excellent problem-solving and negotiation skills.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) with excellent presentation skills.
• Strong people management, coaching and mentoring skills.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in a mining r elated area. Master's Degree preferable.

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of 12 years post-qualification experience in project management, design management and contract management.
