Organ: The Telecommunication Standardization Bureau (TSB) fulfills the objectives of the Union relating to telecommunication standardization, by providing secretariat support to groups studying technical, operating and tariff questions and facilitating the adoption of recommendations in these areas with a view to standardizing telecommunications and information technology on a global basis. In order to achieve these objectives, the Telecommunication Standardization Bureau works in accordance with the instructions of the World Telecommunication Standardization Assemblies (WTSA), Telecommunication Standardization Study Groups and the Telecommunication Standardization Advisory Group. TSB, headed by an elected Director, provides the technical, administrative and logistic support for the assemblies and for the meetings of the groups mentioned. | ||||||||||
Main Tasks and Responsibilities of the Internship | ||||||||||
ITU-T Study Group 3 on Telecommunications Policy and Economic Issues is looking for a dynamic and resourceful policy intern with experience/background in economics and modeling as well as a general interest in international telecommunication services (e.g. the thorny issue of the cost of mobile roaming) . Work assignments will include e.g. research on hot topics related to international telecom services, translating complex technical material into easy-to-understand English, collecting and processing information from queries sent to member states and operators, developing visuals/graphs/images to better describe technical issues related to the work of the group. | ||||||||||
Qualifications required | ||||||||||
Education: Advanced B.A. or Master's in a field such as e.g. telecommunications, economics, technology regulation, statistics, communications and marketing) | ||||||||||
Experience: ITU internships are preferably open to graduate university students or junior professionals with limited working experience. No work experience required | ||||||||||
Languages: Fluent in English. | ||||||||||
