Job Purpose
To manage the FM 1st line risk for Africa and provide operational excellence, business planning, coordination and project management support for the Regional COO. | |
Key Roles & Responsibilities
| |
Deliver Superior Financial Performance
Coordinate, prepare and create strategic reviews, business plans, and associated projects Drive the implementation of business plans and associated projects Regional Product Forums (RPF): drive the RPF agenda to ensure business are not inhibited by delays in Country Addendums/ New Transaction approvals for new businesses; ensure business is conducted with proper authorisation. Ensure CA renewal timeframes are met. Track performance, development and implementation of business critical issues and initiatives using existing MIS and data provided by functional and business support Work with other support functions to prepare presentations for business reviews & regional meetings Engage with COOs of FM Products to co-ordinate geographically driven initiatives Assist in the annual revenue and cost budget process Manage costs in-region (Brokerage, Market Data and Technology costs) Provide timely and succinct regional updates as requested by FMMG Continuously Improve the Way we Work Proactively identify and mitigate risks, manage and improve the risk and compliance environment leading to highest standards of risk management, consistent with both internal and regulatory policies. Conform with the global approach to control, issue resolution and communication by working with other Business Managers and Regional/Product COOs Enforce globalised approach vis-à-vis standard MIS reporting Work with the infrastructure & support areas to ensure the GM country operating model is fully aligned to WB group standards and to ensure consistency of approach where required Oversee activities including Audits, ORR reviews, CORG and BORG reporting - ensuring satisfactory closure of audit and operational risk points Ensure that Financial Markets has robust Business continuity / Disaster recovery plans in place – Act as Departmental Contingency Coordinator (DCC) for Financial Markets Ensure money laundering prevention requirements and procedures are communicated and report any issues related to money laundering to the Business MLPO and unit head. Ensure the procedure of suspicious transactions monitoring is operating. Vet and assist in the investigation of suspicious transaction reports originating from unit staff. Massively Multiply our leadership capability Assist the FM, Sales and product heads, and business support functions to develop and refresh strategies for countries within the region, across all products and geographies, with specific responsibility for planning and coordination of these efforts Ensure the FM action plan is rolled out and delivered Strengthen our right partner relationships Drive local regulatory initiatives and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements Ensure no fails of external and internal audits and inspections Reinforce the Brand and Culture Facilitate effective communication with the Regional Head direct reports and other members of the Financial Markets team in the region Improve communication between the business and support functions, both product and geography | |
Qualifications & Skills

Appropriate Tertiary Qualification with a strong emphasis on Risk/Commerce/Audit
Strong understanding of the Financial Markets product set Knowledge of the FM business processes and the business finance & risk management framework within which the business operates will be a distinct advantage Strong interpersonal skills, capable of developing relationships with individuals across the Bank at all levels and comfortable in managing through influence An ability to get things done and influence people at a distance. Proven project management experience, preferably able to demonstrate ability in managing numerous tasks and projects simultaneously and delivering to strict timelines Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and oral. Ability to ‘synthesise’ information from different sources and produce concise summaries of the key message. Strong commercial awareness and business analytical skills. Ability to distil information to identify key trends and issues and to propose solutions or actions to take advantage of opportunities | |
