4.1.Job Purpose
Serves a research/study nurse for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Botswana Combination Prevention Project (BCPP) located in one of two CDC offices in Botswana (Gaborone or Francistown). The BCPP is designed to evaluate the impact and cost-effectiveness of a unique combination of HIV prevention strategies in Botswana. The job holder will monitor study staff and procedures at multiple -research study sites within a defined region and oversee BCPP site-level study coordinators; duties include site monitoring to ensure compliance with applicable regulations; collecting, updating, reviewing and assessing data for prevention studies and ensuring consistent and proper delivery of HIV care in accordance with the study protocols and Botswana guidelines. Job Holder will be required to drive to multiple research study sites within their assigned region of responsibility.
4.2.Qualifications Required
•Completion of an associate degree program or equivalent program (minimum 2 years) in a school of professional nursing approved by the legally designated agency in host country
•Three years clinical research experience with progressive responsibility that includes coordinating clinical programs and direct patient care.
•Level III English (Good Working Knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing. Level II Setswana (speaking)
•Must have detailed knowledge of Botswana’s health care system and structures, including some familiarity with MOH policies, program priorities and regulations; possess professional knowledge of a wide range of nursing concepts, principles, and practices to perform highly specialized nursing assignments as well as knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and pharmacology and thorough knowledge of HIV clinical issues and relevant testing and treatment guidelines
•Ability to discuss HIV/AIDS-related clinical content issues with patients of all levels
•Must have or be able to obtain registration as a professional nurse in Botswana.
•Must possess a valid Botswana driver’s license
