Brief description:
Overall objective of the expertise
The main objective of this Short term expertise is to provide technical assistance in the development of MESA SADC-THEMA flood service based on Earth Observation. This service will be developed based on the MESA stations which will run on a Linux Platform.
Results to be achieved by the consultant
The expected outputs are as follows:
Commencement date of the assignment: November 2014
Duration of the assignment: 24 working days
Requirements:
Qualifications and skills
- Masters/PhD degree in Earth Observation or related field of study
General professional experience:
- At least 5 years of experience in developing flood monitoring application for international organizations
- Experience of working in the SADC region will be an advantage
- The expert should demonstrate experience in GIS & Remote Sensing application flood modelling
Specific professional experience:
- Excellent writing skills in English
- Expert knowledge in working with both Optical and Radar data for flood monitoring
- Fluency in French/Portuguese will be an added advantage
