The Ministry of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism aims to protect the environment conserve the country’s natural resources and derive value out of the environment for the benefit of the nation.
A talented, experienced, proactive, innovative, and self-driven candidate is sought to fill the above-mentioned position in the Ministry of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism – Department of Corporate Services - Gaborone.
Benefits:
i) Optional Contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government pays 50% and employee pays 50%).
ii) Contributory Pension Scheme for Permanent and Pensionable staff (Government pays 15% and employee pays 5%).
Leave: 30 working days per annum.
Qualifications: Bachelor of Science /Bachelor of Engineering (Civil Engineering).
Experience: A minimum of four (4) years relevant work experience, at least 2 years of which should have been served as Engineer on C1 salary grade in Government or equivalent in the Private Sector or Parastatal Organization.
Main Purpose of the Job
To undertake designs, supervisory and advisory functions on matters related to civil and structural aspects of the building projects.
Key Performance Areas
• Provides professional advice, guidance in all matters related to Designs and Contraction of Civil / Structural Engineering Building Projects.
• Monitors and controls work done by and payments made to contractors until the end of the contractor’s liability period to ensure quality and timely completion of projects.
• Assesses designs and reports prepared by consultants and checks proposed system for strength, stability and economy.
• Assesses departmental workload and recommends whether the project can be undertaken by the Department or outsourced.
• Submits working drawings to the Quantity Surveyors for tendering documentation and responds to queries where necessary.
• Liaise with other engineering disciplines and incorporates their requirements into the structure and agrees on the programme of work for completing a project within the required time schedule.
• Prepares working designs or sketches indicating outline details and directs technical officers in preparation of working drawings.
