Project Director (Mining)

Job Description:

• Ensure strong working relationships with the Government, community and the operations team
• Monitor company work performances
• Monitor and develop the scope, cost, schedule, safety and quality goals for the project
• Implement cost controls and project scope
• Ensure contract finalisation
• Project close-out report and smooth handover between project and operational staff
• Ensure accountability throughout the project delivery team and establish and delegate authority
• Review project progress and ensure precise and timely forecasts of schedules and cost
• Identify and manage trends, variances and contingency drawdown in accordance with protocol and procedure
• Ensure clear communication
• Manage document protocols
• Build, develop and motivate high performing teams
• Promote safe and environmentally sustainable working practices
• Drive effective collaboration at all levels of the organisation

Minimum Requirements:

• B.Sc. in a related engineering discipline
• Must be a member of the Engineering Registration Board of Botswana
• Minimum of 20 years’ experience in project execution and mining operations management specifically in underground mining
• Africa mining experience essential
• Experience in each of the main phases of project development (Conceptualisation through to construction) will be beneficial
• Prior experience in leading a project through the early stages of feasibility and development (Previous experience of developing mining projects in Africa would be an advantage)
• Proven track record in project and stakeholder management (Excess of $350m capital project management experience)
• Capable of leading teams and mentoring, training and coaching subordinates
• Negotiation skills and experience
• Must have a valid driver's license
