SENIOR OFFICER (SHE) - KOMATSU

Komatsu is looking for a Senior Officer (SHE) in their Botswana office.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Diploma in Safety Management plus 6 experience

EXPERIENCE:

• 6 Years post qualifications
• Experience in the Earth Moving/ Construction/Heavy Mining Equipment industry

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

• Incident Investigation
• Root Cause Analysis Technique/ Specialised Accident Investigation
• Occupational Health & Safety Act
• Workman’s Compensation Act
• Mines Quarries Works and Machinery (MQWM) Act
• ICT requirements:
• MS Word
• MS Outlook
• MS Excel
• MS Power Point

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF ROLE:
1. Leadership Role Content:

• Supervises and executes agreed project(s) / objectives aligned with approved plans
• Facilitates, supervises and executes progress and flow of planned work/projects
• Prepares operational reports on section / project progress
• Supervises the team (SHE Team)
• Participates in the selection and recruitment process for appointing team members
• Assists in discussions of individual performance agreements with team
• Discusses and reports grievances and follows-up with team
• Monitors and assesses the team’s competence and knowledge levels based on instruments deployed by HR

2. Financial Management

• Participates in the planning of audits in collaboration with the Finance/Audit function
• Submits staff S&T and overtime / expense claims for approval

3. Corporate Governance

• Communicates changes to policies & procedures to sub- ordinate staff
• Follows up and monitor implementation decisions by Governing Committees
• Provides information on staff adherence to policies, procedures and controls

4. Safety, Health & Environment

• Plans for safety events and campaigns
• Implement the Komatsu Way 5Ss - sorting, organising, cleaning, ordering and training
• Assists in formulation and improvement to SHE policies and procedures

5. SHE Policies and Procedure implementation

• Suggests updates to KB SHE policies and procedures and gains approval
• Uses job profiles to audit validity of hazards, risks in each technical job and check annually (in conjunction with HR)
• Monitors monthly operational (Branch/Depot/Section) health and safety committee meeting
