Unitrans Botswana, a road freight and fuel and chemical transportation, distribution and logistical Company requires the services of experienced Botswana citizens to fill the following vacancies at its Francistown and Palapye Depots:
Driver Trainer
Tenable in Francistown, the Driver Trainer will be required to monitor and improve the driving performance of drivers by means of classroom and in-cab coaching and analysis of driving records in line with set Company policies and standards. Some of the specific tasks would include:- – Conducting driver training needs assessments and job observations;
- – Coaching drivers on identified weaknesses in theory and practice
- – Check tachographs, drivecam events and record scores to establish driving patterns and trends to develop remedial training interventions
- – Monitoring incidents and carrying out accident investigations and compiling monthly reports and providing statistics;
- – Screen and test applicants for driver positions
- – Prepare training schedules and reports
- – Updating driver training matrix
- – Undertaking route assessment surveys and site visits to identify potential hazards and proffering possible solutions and updating Journey Plans
- – Facilitating the work of external safety auditors in conducting driver training audits to ensure compliance and following up on recommendations and audit queries raised to implement corrective action;
Relevant qualification, EC driving licence and experience in driver training, SHEQ and a minimum of 3 years work experience in a transport or petrochemical environment or similar. Applicants will have attained knowledge of safety legislation and SHEQ management systems and their application. Computer literacy is a must. Further vital competencies include good verbal and written communication, coaching and presentation skills.
Gantry Operator
This is a fixed- term and weekly-shift based appointment and the incumbent will be based in the Palapye Depot reporting directly to the Gantry Supervisor. The duties will entail:- – Putting in additives to fuel stocks
- – Managing additive stock and sending reconciliations to Management
- – Maintaining a list of all vehicles with fuel with additives and quantity dispensed per vehicle.
- – Confirming and registering original seals from loading depots Re-sealing trucks with VIVO Energy Botswana seals after putting in the additive and issuing a new seal certificate;
- – Ensuring product carried by all VIVO Energy Botswana trucks have the additive before being dispatched to delivery sites;
- – Maintaining good housekeeping of the additive installation;
- – Reporting all incidents, potential incidents and near misses
Gantry Supervisor
This fixed- term and weekly-shift based appointment is also based in the Palapye Depot reporting directly to the Contract Manager. The duties will entail:- – Supervising a shift of two Gantry Operators responsible for putting in the additive to fuel for distribution by VIVO trucks
- – Submitting reports on the management of the additive process and to the Contract Manager

Strict compliance with Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality(SHEQ) requirements in the Gantry. Applicants will have attained knowledge of safety legislation and SHEQ management systems and their application. Computer literacy is a must. Further vital competencies include good verbal and written communication skills.
