HelpAge International is a global network of not-for-profit organisations with a vision of a world where older people fulfil their potential to lead active, dignified, healthy and secure lives. As the only global network focused on older people, HelpAge occupies a special yet often overlooked niche within the panoply of international causes. We are on the brink of change due to the rapid ageing of the world’s population. By the year 2050, there will be nearly as many people aged 60 or over as children under 15. Most of these older people will live in developing countries.

Working in Pretoria you will contribute to the growth and development of the Southern Africa region by identifying and recommending strategic partnerships and defining and implementing relevant programme areas that advance HelpAge International’s Southern Africa regional strategy.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience of programme development and implementation at national and regional level. You will have an in-depth knowledge of the socio-economic and political environment of Africa with specific emphasis to Southern Africa and a strong understanding of policy development processes. You will also have experience of engaging in policy and advocacy work at local, national and regional level.

The ideal candidate will have also significant experience in fundraising including building and maintaining donor relationships. Experience of organisational development and fundraising work with NGOs and Community Based Organisations are key to succeeding in the role.

Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to prioritise work and meet tight deadlines are essential for the role.
