Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, is an innovative public-private global health partnership whose mission is to save children’s lives and protect people’s health by increasing access to immunisation in poor countries.
Since 2000, Gavi’s work with countries and partners has prevented 7 million deaths through immunisation of more than 500 million children. Gavi’s new strategy for 2016-2020 aims to reach a further 300 million children and prevent another 5 to 6 million deaths.
Gavi seeks a talented and dynamic Head, UK Strategy to lead public and corporate engagement and fundraising efforts in the country.
The UK is a critical market for Gavi. The British government is a thought leader in global health, Gavi’s largest public donor and a founder and key contributor to innovative financial mechanisms central to the Gavi model – the International Finance Facility for Immunisation (IFFIm), the Advance Market Commitment (AMC), and the Gavi Matching Fund. Key British corporations and foundations are teaming up with Gavi to deliver game-changing partnerships. UK-based civil society organisations and advocates are playing an essential role to help Gavi achieve its mission.
A senior member of Gavi’s resource mobilisation and private sector partnerships team, the Head, UK Strategy will provide organization-wide leadership, guidance and co-ordination in envisioning, developing and implementing a UK engagement strategy in support of the Gavi. S/he will manage the effective relationship with the government and private donors, strengthen senior-level connexions with UK-based advocates and champions, and drive ambitious new business partnerships with British corporations, philanthropists and foundations. S/he will also advise Gavi’s leadership on building support at the highest level of political, entrepreneurial and financial circles.
The successful candidate will have proven experience in fundraising with both public and private donors. In addition, demonstrated skills in dealing with political governmental decision-making processes in the UK as well as an outstanding track record in complex project management and client relations is required.
