Sir Ketumile Masire Teaching Hospital invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the positions of 2 positions of Hospital Messenger Driver.
.
ABOUT THE ORGANISATION
The hospital is a newly built 450 bed government owned private quaternary teaching hospital located within the University of Botswana, Gaborone, Botswana. The institution exists to provide excellence in Health Professions Education, Research and Patient Centred Clinical Care.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
-To provide both Messenger and Driving services, covering distribution of mail to external stakeholders; collection of mail from the post office and any other place. --This job will also include safe transportation of staff, patients and goods as maybe required.

CORE DUTIES
-The Messenger/Driver’s duties include and are not limited to the following:
1.Provide messengerial and/or driving services as prescribed from time to time.
2.Must ensure that any passengers being carried have been duly authorized, and that the passenger capacity of the vehicle is not exceeded.
3.Shall ensure the provision of indemnity certificates to any person not scheduled in the trip connected with the vehicle at that time.
4.Shall ensure that the logbooks are maintained at the start and end of work period.
5.To perform minor emergency repairs to correct faults and report such actions on the vehicle trip sheet (logbook),
6.Shall ensure that the vehicles are kept clean and safe to use all the time
7.Drives heavy-duty vehicles exceeding 3500 kg maximum weight (for non-articulated vehicles) up to 16000kg maximum weight including trailer;
8.Drives all non-articulated buses above 3500kg.

QUALIFICATION:
-Entry to this grade will be limited to candidates with a minimum of BGSCE and a valid Extra Heavy Duty Driver’s License and a PRDP Special.
-An endorsement free license for any class of motor vehicle during the past two years.
-Computer literacy will be an advantage.

EXPERIENCE:
-At least two years’ experience driving the required class of vehicles
-First Aid or Basic Life Support training as added advantage
