To provide strategic leadership in monitoring of Government infrastructural projects at various stage.
Job description:
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
• Ensures that project officers are adequately trained and accredited as project managers
• Ensures procuring entities are adequately resourced with systems, software and technologies to enable them to effectively implement projects
• Monitors construction activities including attending site meetings
• Makes recommendations to the Permanent Secretary on issues that require approval
• Conducts research on available technologies applicable to Botswana
• Monitors construction activities including attending site meetings
• Ensures that project budgets and work plans are accurately developed, regularly reviewed, revised and adhered to
• Ensures that all projects follow Government procurement procedures
• Provides hands on support, guidance and advice to the procuring entities to complete project cycle activities
• Advises the Ministry Departments on project implementation issues to ensure they follow best practices
• Oversees the Project Implementation Unit
• Ensures projects are completed within budget, time and scope
• Provides monthly comprehensive reports on project implementation progress
• Prepares and monitors budget expenditure for the Unit
• Liaises with Planning Unit to keep development projects expenditure under control
• Establishes the training needs of the Ministry and its stakeholders and recommends to the Project Coordinator
• Develops a framework for mentoring junior engineers and technicians, including professional attachments
• Develop professional development programmes for the Ministry and its stakeholders

Job requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be in possession of a minimum of Bachelor of Civil Engineering, Building Engineering, Architecture, Construction Engineering and Management, Project management or equivalent. Master’s Degree in the above or equivalent discipline will be an added advantage.
EXPERIENCE:
Application should have a minimum of ten (10) years’ post qualification experience in the construction industry, two of which should have been at the equivalent of Chief Project Officer – D1.
