General description:
To coordinate construction, maintenance and preservation of the road network through routine and periodic maintenance as well as controlling axle loading.
Job description:
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
• Provides professional guidance on contractual issues.
•  Coordinates and monitors development and recurrent projects.
•  Coordinates the construction of new roads, reconstruction of old roads and forecasts on the roads network in the country and advise the Director of Roads.
•  Monitors projects through project managers by holding meetings weekly/monthly.
• Assesses projects progress and financial reports and recommends accordingly.
•  Coordinates and directs the preparation of the budget(recurrent & development)
•  Approves expenditure.
•  Coordinates and supervises procurement processes.
•  Manages the performances of staff.
•  Initiates strategies that would enhance service delivery by Roads Department through planning, design, construction and maintenance of road network.
• Coordinates and directs the socio-environmental and impact surveys.
•  Disseminates information to public through various forums such as Kgotla and full council, meetings.
•  Approves reviews of Roads Department business processes against customer needs and national policies 
Job requirements:
Must be in possession of a minimum of Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Engineering (Civil & Structural) or project management acquired from a recognised university.  A managerial qualification will be an added advantage.
EXPERIENCE:
Application should have a minimum of twelve (12) years’ work experience in Roads Engineering or related field. (2) of which should have been at Chief Roads Engineer (D1) level or equivalent in the private sector. The ideal candidate should have a broad understanding of Government Policies and background in Human Resource Management.
