The Health and Education Unit of the Secretariat has a dedicated Commonwealth Education Hub consisting of two key elements: a global Community of Practice (CoP) for education professionals across the Commonwealth, and a website which serves as the virtual home for the CoP and the gateway to four key services (Connection, Consultation, Collection, and Collaboration). The Research Officer, Education will be responsible for providing research and technical support to ensure the smooth operation of The Commonwealth Education Hub.
Your tasks will include but not be limited to researching and producing short briefing papers on selected topics for the Education Hub and CoP; supporting the Advisor/Facilitator in Community mail group management; conducting desk research and data analysis for material posted on the Community mail group and website; contributing to innovations in systems development/upgrades; assisting with the preparation and monitoring of the Education Hub project work plan; and updating the Education Team on pertinent global developments and issues.
To be considered for the role you will have a strong post-graduate degree in Education, Public Administration, Development Studies, or any relevant Social Science discipline. This will be backed by at least 3 years of practical experience in the education field as communications specialist, practitioner, or researcher/academic. Additionally, you must possess demonstrated experience incarrying out desk research (qualitative and quantitative), tapping the full range of possible sources to research an issue including web search tools and conventions, and in delivering to tight deadlines.
