Role Overview

Ensures adequate inventory of products in accordance with inventory cycles and organizational philosophy. Conducts daily inventory analysis to solve inventory problems. Develops and implements inventory control procedures. Coordinates and manages daily physical cycle counts. Trains and manages an inventory team.

Key responsibilities

• Report to upper management on stock levels, issues etc.
• Day to day transactions like purchases, receiving stocks, sales, managing inter-branch transfers, stock usages including perpetual stock take for all Branches.
• Collaborate with Branch Managers and other staff to ensure business goals are met.
• Work with Branch Managers to replenish stock avoiding insufficiencies or excessive surplus.
• Track sales performance on new items relative to established expectations. Recommend action if necessary to capitalize on fast sellers and minimize liability on slow sellers.
• Use the ERP system to monitor demand and document characteristics of inventory and report on turnover, stock on-hand, expiring products and make recommendations as needed.
• Maintains optimum inventory levels to ensure on time deliveries meeting customer requirements while minimizing carrying costs and premium transportation charges.
• Directs the write-offs of obsolescent and damaged inventory to maintain realistic valuation of goods-on-hand.
• Supervises and establishes procedures for taking and valuing the year-end physical inventory.
• Devise ways to optimize inventory control procedures.
• Ensure the inventory is accurate and record all movements in and out of inventory locations.
• Inspect the levels of business supplies and products to identify shortages.

Ideal Candidate will have

• BA in business administration, logistics or relevant field.
• CIPS Qualification will be an added advantage
• 6 Years relevant experience with at least 2 Years in a managerial position.
• Excellent knowledge of data analysis and reporting and inventory management methods.
• Proven experience as an Inventory Manager or similar position.
• Working knowledge of inventory management software and processes.
• Experience with Kerridge Commercial systems will be an added advantage.
