Online Fundraising Manager - World Food Programme

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the world's largest humanitarian agency, fighting hunger worldwide. We are seeking to fill a position to manage global online fundraising operations within WFP’s Private Sector Partnership team. The contract is for a P-3 short-term staff member, and it will be for an initial period of 11 months (with possibility of extension).

Under the general supervision of the Deputy Director, Private Sector Partnerships, the Online Fundraising Manager will undertake the following tasks:

Develop and manage the implementation of a global online fundraising strategy as part of the overall Private Sector Partnerships annual plan, with a focus on:

· Building an engaged community;

· Maintaining the highest level of donor stewardship and satisfaction;

· Optimizing current online income streams;

· Identifying new ways to raise money online;

· Supporting corporate partnerships with online engagement/fundraising opportunities.

Oversee the planning and implementation of all initiatives for the recruitment, retention, conversion and development of supporters using digital media:

· Implementation of online fundraising campaigns, working across teams to integrate with other channels and reach set goals;

· Successful delivery of all global supporter email communications in service of fundraising, conversion and engagement building;

· Analysis of campaign metrics and key performance indicators to ensure best practices and lessons learned and sharing these metrics/KPIs with senior management;

· Testing new and existing techniques and channels to grow the size and value of the individual online donor base.

Manage the Investment Plan for Individual Giving project:

· Guiding a fundraising consultancy agency’s work in refining markets for initial investment and developing highly specific investment plans per selected markets;

· As the divisional expert in online fundraising and engagement, support the Deputy Director of Private Partnerships in ongoing efforts to make the case for investment in individual giving to internal stakeholders;

· If investment case is successful, this role will manage the execution of the investment plan in digital across relevant markets.

Oversee the Online Fundraising Team:

· Oversee and guide the individual work plans of current team members responsible for copy writing, analytics, donor relations and customer service

· Manage all HR/administrative tasks relating to team members, including performance evaluations and recruitment of replacements;

· Oversee management of external vendors and agencies, including leading internal request for proposal and procurement processes as needed;

· Provide guidance to Friends organisations, partnership managers, and other staff on online fundraising and digital campaigns.

Act as focal point in relationship building with other units/divisions to ensure the interests and needs of the Online Fundraising Team are met:

· Provide technical expertise and strategic advice on integrating digital across corporate partnerships and other program areas;

· Work closely with Communications and the Web Team to ensure an integrated communications and fundraising programme across all online media.

Qualifications & Experience Required

Education:

• Advanced university degree (Masters, Doctorate, or equivalent) in Fundraising, International Development, Marketing or other relevant discipline.

Experience:

• Minimum five years professional experience in a marketing, fundraising, communications or sales role, of which at least three years are in a digital fundraising role;
• Demonstrable expertise in email and digital marketing, including proven ability in donor/supporter conversion and development;
• Experience in donor acquisition through SEO, paid search and other digital channels;
• Ability to lead the development of compelling digital fundraising content that converts readers to action-takers;
• Experience managing people/teams with various backgrounds and/or nationalities.

Technical Skills & Knowledge:

• Very good working knowledge of technology tools such as PowerPoint, Excel and Word.

• Excellent communication skills (oral, written and presentation)

· Ability to meet and prioritize multiple deadlines and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in fast-paced, high-pressure environment;

· Ability to work in multicultural settings that involve a large number of stakeholders;

· Strong analytical and problem solving skills;

· Resourcefulness, initiative, maturity of judgment and tact;

· Creative asset design and in-depth knowledge of web and mobile technologies a plus

Language:

• Fluency in oral and written English and proficiency in another UN working language (Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) or Portuguese (one of WFP’s working languages) is a plus
