The above vacancy exists in the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture in the National Internship Programme.
Talented, proactive, self-driven, visionary and qualified Batswana are therefore sought to fill the above mentioned position, tenable in Gaborone.
Salary Scale: D2 (P218, 592 – P241, 344) per annum.
Leave: 30 working days per annum.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field. A Master’s Degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage.

Experience: A minimum of ten (10) years relevant post qualification experience, two (2) of which should have been served at D3 level.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To ensure that there is sound financial coordination, administration management on all aspects of the Department’s financial matters.
Key performance areas:
• Provides Financial assistance to Interns and staff members.
• Advises on management of the recurrent and development budgets.
• Administers payment of Interns monthly allowances through consolidation and recalculation in line with the commencement date.
• Manages complaints for non-payment of savings through timely payment and relationship management.
• Manages financial data by reconciliation, data cleaning, consolidation, error detection and reporting.
• Manages e-banking accounts and compile reports thereof.
• Reconciles accounts and transfer monthly savings.
• Monitors financial budget allocations for the Department.
• Verifies vote’s ledger and expenditure analysis and monitors expenditure trends and forecasts possible over/under expenditure.
• Authorizes Casualty Returns and prepares written explanatory notes where necessary.
• Liaises with all Divisional heads to assess the supplies/ material requirements.
• Manages and scrutinizes all supplies requirements and budgets for their financial provision.
• Processes acquisition of the authorized supplies from the appropriate sources in accordance with Supplies Rules and Regulations.
• Coordinates the distribution of supplies to the users in accordance with the regulations and introduces appropriate measures to ensure that supplies are used for the intended purpose.
• Develops proposals for resource (manpower, material, financial, etc) requirements, basing on planned ministerial/ Departmental activities as well as guided by Financial Rules and Regulations.
• Promptly attends to all queries and ensures that finance related internal and external matters are promptly and adequately attended to and formulates replies to audit queries.
