VACANCY CIRCULAR NO 9 OF 2017
Salary: F2 (470,976 per annum)
Leave: 30 working days per annum.
Benefits: Optional contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government
Contributes 50% and employee 50%)
Duration: 24 – 36 months contract.
Qualifications: B Eng Mining, BSc Geology, B Eng Mechanical or related field. Master’s degree in the relevant field will be an added advantage.
Experience: A minimum of 16 years work experience in the relevant area, two (2) years of which should have been at E1 grade or its equivalent.
Main Purpose of the Job: to coordinate, direct and supervise policies and strategies in the achievement of the objectives of the Ministry in areas of energy, and minerals.
Key Performance Areas:
1. Provides advisory role to Government on policy implementation in relation to Energy and Mineral sectors.
2. Provides leadership and guidance on sustainable utilization of renewable energy and the use of energy efficient technologies.
3. Increases the security of supply in energy products by developing and implementing integrated energy resource planning.
4. Oversees implementation of policy, legislative and institutional frameworks on the energy, mines and mineral sectors in line with the vision, objectives and goals of Government.
5. Provides professional advice on the administration of the mining sector activities from the exploration stage to mining, processing and marketing of minerals.
6. Promotes local and foreign investment into Botswana’s mineral industry.
7. Develops and implement programmes and projects to increase the beneficiation of minerals.
8. Drives the development and utilization of mineral resources in a sustainable manner.
9. Provide leadership and guidance in negotiations of minerals and energy agreements.
10. Oversees and manage performance functional areas of Energy and Mining.

Qualifications:
Degree in Supply and Material Management/Logistics Management/Business Administration or any other related field.
Experience:
minimum of ten (10) years’ experience within tendering, procurement and supply environment with at least two (2) years served at D3 level in government or at middle management level in Parastatal or private sector.
Main Purpose of the Job:
To provide secretarial and advisory services to the Ministerial Tender Committee.
Core duties:
• Responsible for the accurate and complete recording of the proceedings of the committee and keeping of such records.
• Pre-adjudicate of tender bids and provide advice to Departments and / or Procuring Entities on their submissions for deferrals, stood-downs or rejections.
• Prepare tender notices for Government Printers and publish all MTC decisions.
• Act as the main link between Ministerial Tender Committee and PPADB.
• Maintain the Ministerial Tender Committee Registry.
• Update the Ministerial Tender Committee Performance Indicators.
