MORUPULE COAL MINE IS A COAL MINING COMPANY IN BOTSWANA SITUATED 14 KILOMETRES WEST OF PALAPYE ALONG SEROWE/PALAPYE ROAD AND PRIMARILY FOR GENERATION OF ELECTRICITY IN BOTSWANA.THE COMPANY SEEKS TO INVITE SUITABLY QUALIFIED AND EXPERIENCED CITIZEN FOR THE FOLLOWING POSITION;
SAFETY HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT(SHE)OFFICER (FIXED TERM CONTRACT)
Job Purpose and Responsibilities
To implement and,cordinate,monitor and maintain the safety programme on the mine and ensure compliance to mine procedures,standards and legal requirements.
Key Activities
-Uses supplies and equipment in a cost effective manner.
-Controls expenditure in line with budget.
-Develops,implements and monitors the Safety&Risk programme in line with legislation to ensure a safe working environment
-Facilitates the development and monitors the implementation of emergency preparedness plan.
-Conducts inspection of fire fighting equipment,fire breaks and systems in line with legal requirements and ensures that equipment is installed according to specification and mine standards.
-Identifies Safety training needs in order to develop and conduct appropriate interventions to close identified gaps.
-Inducts employees,visitors and contractors to ensure compliance to the safety management system
-Compiles and analyzes safety statistics highlighting problem areas and makes recommendations to improve situation
-Provide technical advice in incident investigations to ensure adherence to reporting standards and legal requirements
-Facilitates the development of corrective and presentative action plans to ensure a safe working environment.
-Ensures that all documentation regarding accidents and incidents are correctly recorded and processed on completion.
-Monitors compliance to safety to safe working practices and takes appropriate action requirements
-Ensures that employees are selected,deployed,trained,evaluated,trained evaluated and rewarded in compliance with existing employee management systems.
-Conducts and coordinate inspections and audits to ensure compliance to legal coaches,counsels,mentors and discpline subordinate employees.
-Adheres to and promotes safety,health and environment policies and procedures.
Technical Knowledge

Understanding,implementation and auditing of OHSAS18001:2007

Minimum Education,Training and Experience Requirements
Diploma in Safety Management or equivalent from a recognized institution coupled with 3 years relevant experince preferably in a mine environment
Valid Class B Drivers license
In depth knowledge of SHE management system(ISO 14001 &OHSAS 18001)
