VACANCY: FIREMAN DRIVER II/PUMP OPERATOR II [RE-ADVERTISEMENT]

VACANCY CIRCULAR NO. 17 OF 2015 – EXTERNAL ADVERT

Applications are invited from suitably qualified Botswana citizens for the position above tenable in Gaborone City Council.

SALARY SCALE: B3 (P38, 280 – P45, 768) per annum
LEAVE: 20 working days per annum

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

I. Direct entry to the grade will be limited to officers who hold Junior Certificate/O level School Leaving Certificate and Heavy Duty Driver’s License GVM > 16,000 kg.
II. Male and female Botswana citizens
III. Aged between 18-30 years
IV. Be physically and mentally fit
V. No adverse criminal record
VI. Candidates should be in possession of a valid national identity card (Omang)
VII. All candidates shall undergo the selection process which includes;
i. physical fitness assessment tests
ii. a comprehensive medical examination
iii. Female candidates must not be pregnant at recruitment and during training

Be ready to serve in a variety of geographic locations and environment conditions

BENEFITS:

1. Optional Contributory Medical Aid Scheme – Government contributes 50% and employee 50%.
2. Contributory Pension Scheme – Government contributes 15% and employee 5% and
30% Fire Services overtime.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

• Effective operation of fire pumps and other related equipment.

DUTIES

1. Drives fire appliances to the scene of emergency.
2. Operates fire pumps and other fire services equipment.
3. Provides first aid and medical care in case of emergencies.
4. Conducts standard test of fire pumps and related equipment.
