Old Mutual Botswana Chief Operating Officer
Key Focus
This role is individually accountable for supporting the Botswana Group CEO in ensuring that the strategy of the business is implemented in alignment to the Old Mutual Africa strategy. Ensures all operations including central support functions achieve strategic objectives over periods of 1-2 years.
Qualification Information
Qualified Actuary. MBA or Masters (Commerce) required.
Min. 3-5 years in more than one discipline & previous operational and management experience.

Manages overall expenses including cost reductions.

Embeds risk and governance framework in business.
Ensures clean audit risk and compliance reports.

Delegates to and manages functional teams.
Develops specialists under supervision.
Accountable for others’ time task and output quality for periods of up to 2 years.
Balances own priorities with directing and motivating others.
Leads team to optimise delivery.
Service Delivery Management
Defines and implements best operating practice in client services.
Defines performance parameters (incl. balanced scorecard) and measurements for area under supervision.
Drives operational excellence throughout area of supervision.
Implements strategies and initiatives to increase service delivery.
Retains and maintains existing business through other managers and their teams.
Customer Experience
Ensures that delivery matches or exceeds industry benchmarks for cost effectiveness, as well as for client and intermediary satisfaction.
Operational Efficiency
Delivers on strategic projects as requested.
Implements a cost-effective client service and data strategy.
Ensures that a comprehensive information strategy is in place and restructures Technology service when needed.
Integrates delivery and metrics across the people process finance and client dimensions.
Actuarial and Finance
Provides general actuarial, investment and group assurance consulting services.
Provides input to product development to ensure that the appropriate products are provided to the market and ensures a long-term strategic view of product choices.
Provide Balance sheet management and Finance function oversight and support.
Stakeholder Management
Ensures that appropriate level of engagement and relationships are maintained with important internal stakeholders and responsible for Corporate Social Investment (CSI).
Strong focus on cross functional operation and networking across internal and external boundaries.
Strategy Implementation
Responsible for strategic direction of the Business including all components of Finance HR Marketing and Brand Risk & IT.
Develops and takes accountability for the business plan which is aligned to the Country strategy.
