PART-TIME TUTORS - ADULT EDUCATION

The University of Botswana offers the Diploma in Adult Education (DAE) and Diploma in Non-Governmental Organisations Management (NGO) programmes. The University of Botswana invites applications for qualified persons to take up part time tutoring in the above programmes.
Duties: The successful applicants will be expected to engage in tutoring students of the above distance learning programmes in any of the following areas for the academic year 2015/ 2016.
DAE STREAM: 1) Principles of Adult Education; 2) Introduction to the Psychology of Adult Education; 3) Introduction to Planning Programmes for Adult Learners; 4) Historical and Philosophical Foundations of Adult Education; 5) The Psychology of Adult Learning; 6) Programme Planning and Evaluation in Adult Education; 7) Community Project Planning and Management; 8) Rural Development and Rural Extension; 9) Integrated Skills Project; 10) Adult Education and Society; 11) Adult Education in Practice; 12) Introduction to Educational Research; 13)Teaching Methods for Adult Education; 14) Gender Issues in Adult Education; 15) Adult Education and the World of Work; 16) Supervising Adult Education Programmes; 17) Integrated Extension; 18) Psychology and the Adult Learner; 19) Participatory Development Methods; 20) Lifelong Learning.
NGO STREAM : 1) Contemporary issues in NGOs; 2) Organizational design and development; 3) Capacity building and sustainability for NGOs; 4) Labour relations in NGOs; 5) Programme planning and evaluation of adult education; 6) Communications and study skills 1 & 2; 7) Computing & information skills Fundamentals 1 & 2; 8) HIV/AIDS and Community Home Based Care; 9) Participatory Development Methods; 10) Policy Formulation and Analysis for NGOs; 11) Gender Awareness in NGOs; 12) Organizational Design and Development; 13) NGOs HIV/AIDS and Behavioural Change; 14) Lifelong Learning.
Requirements: Applicants should have (i) a relevant Bachelor’s Degree in the respective areas with at least a second class, first division (2.1) pass/ GPA of at least 3.6; (ii) a relevant Master’s Degree in the respective areas of specialization will be an added advantage; (iii) show evidence of engagement in research and service; (iv) a relevant PhD will be an added advantage, so will academic leadership and teaching experience at a University or comparable institution. The CV should inter alia, provide a detailed list of courses (if any) ever taught and the levels at which they were taught, as well as research and publications where applicable. . Preference will be given to people who have experience in tutoring distance learners. Candidates will be expected to undergo orientation workshop.
Remuneration: The University offers a competitive hourly rate for Part-time services.
