The Centre for African Studies Basel calls for applications for three doctoral positions granted by the Humer Foundation for Academic Talent.
These scholarships are advertised within the framework of the Basel Graduate Network African Studies. They cover a period of three years and allow promising young scholars to carry out a project in one of the following three areas: African History, Extra-european Christianity, Economics.
Requirements:
• Applicants hold an excellent Master degree or equivalent qualification in one of the disciplines represented by the selection committee;
• present an original idea for a research project;
• have very good research, analytical and writing skills;
• commit themselves fully to their PhD project during the funding period and aim at completing their project within the said period.

• a short proposal (1500-2500 words);
• copies of undergraduate and postgraduate diplomas complete with transcripts;
• a curriculum vitae (not exceeding two pages);
• two letters of recommendation by university professors
• writing samples (Master thesis, recent academic publication, ...).
