Applications are invited from suitably qualified citizens of Botswana for the post of Principal Energy Officer I at the Department of Energy, Ministry of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources.
SALARY SCALE : D2 (P218, 592 – P241, 344) per annum
LEAVE : 30 working days per annum
BENEFITS : (i) Optional contributory medical aid scheme.
(Government pays 50% and Employee pays 50%).
(ii) Contributory pension fund (Government pays 15% and employee pays 5%).
QUALIFICATION : Bachelors or Degree in Economics/ Statistics/Environmental
Science or related field from a recognised and accredited institution
EXPERIENCE : At least 10 years in the energy industry or related field. Having previously worked in a regulatory environment.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The primary purpose of the job is to plan and manage research and guide development and review of energy policies and programmes.
CORE AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversees implementation of Energy Projects
Assists in the formulation and development of strategies for optimal and sustainable use of energy resources.
Provides information to customers on energy programmes use and conservation.
Provides advice on energy policies and programmes to the public
Gives guidance on data and information management and storage.
Contributes in the formulation and development of strategies for optimal and sustainable use of energy resources.
Reviews Acts, policies and regulations on optimal use and sustainability of energy resources.
Supervises the implementation of energy projects, and provide technical advice in the joint working group meetings.
Conducts staff performance reviews with subordinates.
Guides supervisees on different assignments.
Participates in preparation of the recurrent budget and projects.
