Technical Support Manager - Rotary & DTH
The role
The Technical Support Manager is responsible for the representation of the Rotary and DTH Lines in the Southern Africa Sales Area. The role provides the link between the Product Area- Product Line Management (incl. sales support), the Sales Team and their customers.
The role is product / offering focused and concentrates on providing guidance, support and advice on the strategies for the product range in a specified Sales Area. Technical expertise, pricing guidelines, sales support, engineering support and application specialization.
Key performance areas
- Responsible for Product Safety Files and all Product Risk Assessments for the specific Product Line in the associated Sales Area. All employees and workers are required to conduct themselves in accordance with our EHS Vision to achieve Zero Harm to; our people, the environment we work in, our customers and our suppliers
- Product portfolio management including Gap analysis and business plan for Product Line in the assigned Sales Area (inclusive of EH&S aspects).
- Ensures implementation of MAPL and other agreed pricing startegies for the Product Line.
- Ensure project management processes and timelines are adhered to for new product testing in the field, including customer communication etc. when appropriate.
- Provide feedback of product quality performance to all units supplying the products to ensure a consistent global quality level
- Ensure that product stock levels including GIT and OSMI meet sales area demand and comply with relevant financial targets
- Ensure implementation of positioning and product brand management, in line with Sandvik Branding and Product Line.
- Technical support (including tender submissions) to the Sales Area teams.
- Evaluating warranty claims and ensuring actions are set from specific issues.
- Gathering and monitoring of product performance. Providing regular feedback to Product Area.
- Budget, measure and ensure accurate reporting of Product Line GGP
- Coordinate and review the forecasting completed by the Sales Team to ensure that stock levels and product specifications meet the needs of the customer base and are in line with forecasting and inventory policies
Your profile
- A Technical/ Mechanical or industry related formal qualification or recognised prior learning (pref. university graduate engineer).
- A business qualification or at least five years management experience is preferable
- Self driven with a visible, approachable and passion for the success of the Product Line.
- Awareness and knowledge of Sandvik’s vision, structure, operating principles, core values, and code of conduct; ability to apply this understanding appropriately to different situations.
- Knowledge of the organisation – is able to provide detailed information of Sandvik’s experiences, history and industry reputation.
- Demonstrates Mining Business and Industry Knowledge - explains relevant business cycles and systems impact
- Understands Customer application of Product Line
- Sandvik Mining Level 5 Technical knowledge of the appropriate Product Line
- Ability to develop and promote value based selling principles
- Demonstrates business acumen by analyzing business performance or trends of assigned Product Line, competitors and customers.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills including the ability to negotiate with customers at a senior level.
- The ability to build effective relationships within the industry and within Sandvik.
