COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY 1.    Professor, Mechanical Energy and Industrial Engineering (1 Position) 2.    Professor of Mining or Geological Engineering (1 Position). Main Purpose of the Job To teach and educate undergraduate and graduate students in an academic discipline and to build the knowledge base of the discipline through research and publication.  To administer teaching and research activities within the discipline. To be active in some form of professional service To give leadership in the University, the College and the Department, and developing the next generation of academics; to play a leading role in improving the teaching and research infrastructure of the Department, College and University.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE PER POSITION Minimum requirements: Education:Doctorate Degree in the ABOVE STATED AREA Professional/Technical:Registration with the appropriate professional body where applicable Experience: Ten years post-doctoral experience in either teaching/lecturing/research or industry experience in the relevant field or discipline, at least five of which must be in teaching at tertiary level and graduate supervision or developing and mentoring junior research staff  1.A track record of successful research supervision at all levels including doctorate 2.A national and international record of excellence in research and publication   3.A record of recent and continuing publications (minimum of about 25 peer-reviewed publications in total) 4.Experience of obtaining substantial research funding 5.Experience of conducting administrative duties efficiently and effectively 6.Experience in the development/revision of teaching curricula, programmes and qualifications The positions requires the following Competencies/Skills: 1.In-depth understanding of own specialisation to enable the development of new knowledge, innovation and understanding within the field  2.Ability to prepare and submit proposals and applications to external bodies e.g. for funding and accreditation purposes. 3.Computer proficiency and Effective communication skills  4.Understanding of academic management structures and their functioning 5.Excellent  knowledge of the international academic discipline environment   6.Involvement in professional activities where applicable 7.Ability to disseminate conceptual and complex ideas to a wide variety of audiences using appropriate media and methods to promote understanding 8.Ability to be routinely involved in complex and important negotiations both within the College and with external bodies 9.Ability to supervise projects and graduate students. 10.Ability to synthesise information to design learning experiences.
