Applications are invited from suitably qualified citizens of Botswana for the post of Principal Energy Engineer I at the Department of Energy, Ministry of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources.

SALARY SCALE : D2 (P218, 592. – P241, 344) per annum

LEAVE : 30 working days per annum

BENEFITS : (i) Optional contributory medical aid scheme.
(Government pays 50% and Employee pays 50%).

(ii) Contributory pension fund (Government pays 15% and employee pays 5%).

QUALIFICATION : Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Environmental/Chemical Engineering or related fields from a recognised and accredited institution.

EXPERIENCE : A minimum of six (6) years post qualification experience in engineering field or any related field. Having worked in a similar position providing advice on the conservation of energy resources and use of energy efficient technologies and encouraging least cost mix practices across all energy sectors.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To monitor research, plan and manage the development and implementation of energy programmes and monitor performance of existing and new technologies for sustainable use of energy resources.

CORE AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Evaluate the inspection reports for conformity to standards, regulations and codes of practice.
• Assists in the Formulation and development of strategies for optimal and sustainable use of Energy resources.
• Develops and reviews systems of data management.
• Reviews Acts, policies and Regulations on optimal and sustainable use of Energy resources.
• Oversees the implementation of Energy projects.
• Provides information to customers on Energy programs use and conservation.
• Participates in the formulation and development of strategies for optimal and sustainable use of Energy resources.
• Monitors the inspection of Energy facilities for conformity to standards, standards, regulations and codes of practice.
