Purpose of the role:
Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent and based on site, the Chief Geologist will manage geology activities, including geological assessments and resource estimation to ensure the achievement of mine production targets.
Key areas of responsibility:
- Manage and grow the ore resource to ensure optimal grade control;
- Ensure the geological processes are accurate and efficient;
- Provide geological advice to planning and operational staff;
- Assist in providing data to aid in the compilation of statutory reports;
- Prepare and operate within discipline monthly and annual budgets;
- Together with Human Resources, build a successful team;
- Provide leadership to the team, ensuring a working environment that is conducive to the achievement of discipline targets and where employees are able to reach their full potential; and
- Ensure personal and co-workers adherence and compliance to Security and Company SHE objectives.
Minimum qualifications, experience and skill requirements:
- A minimum of a BSc Geology (Hons);
- A minimum of 10 years’ ore resource management (grade control and resource estimation), which includes 5 years in base metals in an underground environment;
- Experience in data management;
- Demonstrated proficiency in mine planning and geological modelling software utilisation,
- Clear understanding of geological controls; and
- Ability to lead and develop a professional team
- Quality and customer focussed.
