CALL FOR BUSINESS PROPOSALS – ACCESS TO OPERATING SPACE
BACKGROUND
The Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture recognises the lack of operational space as one of the critical challenges facing youth businesses. As a way of addressing this challenge, the Ministry intends to provide operational space and facilitate access to land for young entrepreneurs.
ELIGIBILITY
The Ministry is pleased to “Call for Business Proposals” from citizen-owned youth enterprises for opportunities to operate their businesses at Sechaba Youth Enterprises at Mmankgodi, Old Western Primary School in Serowe and Gaborone Multi-Purpose Youth Centre for a period of three (3) years.
OPTIONS AVAILABLE
Submitted proposals are required to demonstrate potential to create sustainable job opportunities for young people. The following facilities are available for occupation:-
Option 1
Sechaba Youth Enterprises at Mmankgodi Village;
a) Small-Stock – 40 Ha available
b) 4 Houses for poultry production – 12000 Holding capacity
c) Piggery production – 100 holding pigs
d) Horticulture – 5 Ha of cleared land
e) Bee-keeping
a) Small-Stock – 40 Ha available
b) 4 Houses for poultry production – 12000 Holding capacity

d) Horticulture – 5 Ha of cleared land
e) Bee-keeping
Option 2
Western Primary School in Serowe Village;
a) 8 Workshop rooms for Manufacturing (e.g. welding & fabrication)
b) Services e.g. Cleaning, Security and catering

b) Services e.g. Cleaning, Security and catering
Option 3
Gaborone Multi-Purpose Youth Centre;
a) 4 Workshops/ rooms suitable for Welding and Fabrication, Woodwork, Upholstery

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
To be considered for funding, the following assessment criteria will be applied:
1. Proof of finance and business viability
2. Demonstrate that the business idea sufficiently matches the facility (site visits will be available)
3. Demonstrate potential to create additional jobs
4. Projected cash flow statements (viability)
5. Project capital – under P500 000

SUBMISSION OF PROPOSALS
Proposals should be submitted directly to the MYSC Headquarters ONLY in hard copy as follows;
One original and three(3) copies of the proposals must be submitted in a sealed envelope clearly marked “PROVISION OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND SUPPORT FACILITIES/OPERATIONAL SPACE-” and must be delivered at Ministry of Youth Sport and Culture Headquarters, located at Plot 54372 (behind High Court Building), Central Business District; and addressed to “The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture, Private Bag 00514, Gaborone, Botswana” by 10:00 hours local time, (GMT+2:00) on May 30th, 2015.

LATE SUBMISSIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED and will be returned to the applicants unopened.
