JOB SUMMARY
The Cost Support Accountant is accountable for the ongoing analysis of process constraints, target costing projects, margin analysis and trading costs back to underlying activities. The incumbent must also construct and monitor cost-effective data accumulation systems, required to provide an appropriate level of costing information to management.
The position directly reports to Business Support Manager.
Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree in Accounting or equivalent.
Experience:
At least 4 years experience in Cost Accountant role with at least three years experience in a clerical accounting function in a computerised accounting environment. Knowledge of accounting software application such as ACCPAC is essential.
Key Performance Areas:
* Construct data accumulation systems for a cost accounting system.
* Create and review the controls needed for data accumulation and reporting system.
* Coordinate physical inventory and cycle counts.
* Investigate cycle counting variances and resolve issues.
* Review standard and actual costs for inaccuracies.
* Conduct ongoing process constraint analysis.
* Report on break even points by products and work centers.
* Report on margins by product and division.
* Report on periodic variances and their causes, focusing in particular on spending variances.
