The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has an overall responsibility of promoting Botswana's national interests abroad.

VACANCY: LIBRARIAN I (1 POST)

Salary Scale: C1 (P130 560 – P156 012) per annum
Leave: 30 working days per annum

Benefits:
i. Optional Contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government contributes 50% and employee contributes 50%).

Qualified Applicant Profile
To be considered for appointment to this position, candidates must have a Degree in Library and Information Studies or a related field.
Promotion to this grade will be limited to serving officers who have served at least two (2) years as Librarian II and have acquired at least proficiency rating level 3 of the Librarian I skills and competencies and have attained at least a minimum of level 3 of overall performance rating.
Experience
The applicant must also have a minimum of four (4) years of relevant work experience, two (2) of which should have been served as Librarian II or equivalent.
Main Purpose of the Job
To manage the maintenance of the library collection and the provision of library and information service.
Duties:
• Catalogues, classifies, abstracts and indexes new library materials.
• Follows overdue books, legal deposit and subscriptions.
• Performs shelving and shelf reading of library materials.
• Conducts public awareness programmes.
