Overview of role
To provide support in accounting for all the funds’ investments and consolidation of portfolios to gauge performance and compliance to set tactical bandwidths as set by the regulator. To accurately produce monthly and adhoc reports.
Job description
- Capturing of all static data: instrument creation, economic indicators (exchange rates, treasury bill yields), portfolio creation, bank account set up
- Updating instrument prices on investment management system
- Correct processing of all monthly transactions on internally managed cash portfolios
- Reconciliation of cash portfolios to bank accounts
- Correct processing of all monthly transactions on all externally managed segregated portfolios
- Processing of income (dividends and interest) and expenses (bank charges and custody fees)
- Scrip and cash reconciliation against custodian on all externally managed portfolios
- Reconciliation of independently prepared valuation against asset managers and investigating variances
- Consolidation of holdings in various segregated portfolios into parent portfolios
- Verification of asset management fees as calculated by asset manager against independently calculated fee
- Timely payment of capital calls and any other third party payments (offshore administration and custody fees)
- Monthly performance and compliance reporting
Requirements, Education and Experience
- AAT or Bachelor's Degree in Finance and Accounting
- 3 years' post qualification experience in an investment service environment
- Valid Botswana light duty driver's license
Competencies
- Understanding of financial markets, instruments and valuations
- Attention to detail
- Numerical ability
- Microsoft Excel competence
- Good interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of investment management systems; Bloomberg, portfolio administration software
