With the expanding footprint and operations into Southern Africa, ROI has a need of the services of a qualified and experienced Oracle Linux/Solaris Support Engineer to join ROI Unix Support team.
Unix Support team primary focus areas:
• Assist Sales team put together innovative solutions and services of Oracle Systems.
• Assist in procurement, installation and Support of Linux/Unix Systems.
• Provide Technical Support of Oracle Linux/Unix Systems with assistance from Oracle Help desk.
• Strategically manage and train ROI Support Team.
Job Description:
The Oracle Linux/Unix Systems engineer will provide enterprise-wide Unix System infrastructure support and maintenance for complex systems and interconnected technologies that require optimal operation and 24/7 uptime.
The successful candidate will among other things be expected to;
1. Perform Unix Systems Administration for Enterprise Oracle Linux and Solaris Systems.
2. Maintain Linux/UNIX infrastructure environment at clients’ Data Centers.
3. Install, configure, and maintain Linux/UNIX server equipment ,mainly during off-peak periods.
4. Perform data protection, recovery for business continuity.
5. Perform routine backup and recovery for data protection and integrity.
6. Perform proactive monitoring of and reporting on Systems.
7. Install, configure and maintain highly optimized Physical and Virtualized UNIX environment.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE DESIRED:
1. 5 to 10 years’ experience providing Linux/Unix/Sun Solaris systems administration support for large scale complex UNIX environments.
2. In-depth experience with Oracle Sun Entry-Level, Midrange and High-End Enterprise Servers and Storage.
3. Good Communication and Team leadership skills. 4. Must possess a valid internationally recognisable driver’s license.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. A Diploma and/or Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college.
2. Oracle Sun Certified System Administrator/engineer for Oracle Solaris 8 or 9 or 10 or 11 Operating System Certification.
3. Any 3 or more Oracle Technical Development Centre (TDC) Accreditation.
