TERMS OF REFERENCE
Position Title: Intern - Occupational Health Unit
Duty Station: Geneva
Duration of Assignment : Three Months
Estimated Start Date: As soon as possible

Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The Intern will provide administrative and secretarial support to the Occupational Health Medical Officer in Headquarters, regarding the occupational health and wellbeing of all IOM staff working in the Ebola Global response. Context: Under the supervision of the Head of OHU, and in accordance with the overall direction of the Chief of Staff (ODG), the Intern will focus on providing services to staff deploying or deployed to Ebola programmes.
Core Functions / Responsibilities
- Keep a clear record of the 'OHU Ebola pharmacy' (travel kits, oral prophylaxis, mosquito nets etc.) Prepare orders for the pharmacy according to the requirements of the IOM Field Offices for the OHU stock.
- Prepare Travel kits as required to hand over to deploying staff or organize the shipment of the travel kits to field offices when necessary.
- Keep a clear account of all related costs (pharmaceutic, materiel, shipment etc) and prepare the payment request forms.
- Hand out a travel kit and eventually a mosquito dome to staff transiting through Headquarters and deploying to Ebola Missions. Ensure they have the adequate type and quantity of malaria oral prophylaxis (which will be prescribed the Head, OHU.)
- Keep track of the 'medical clearance' of staff about to deploy.
- Assist OHU in organizing the Pre- Deployment Training appointments in Headquarters or in identified hubs where staff may be transiting when travelling to Ebola missions, in accordance with Head OHU.
- Inform the Department of Emergency and the Travel Unit that staff when staff are ready to deploy and if they should transit in another duty station upon return, based on the decision of the Head , OHU.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Desirable Qualifications
- University degree in medicine or nursing or pharmacy;
- Internship or experience in Occupational Health, in Travel medicine, in Infectious diseases, in Public Health or any related discipline;
- Strong Computer literacy, especially database tools;
- Strong organizational skills;
- Ability to timely understand the Organization's structure and portfolios;
- Ability to work effectively and harmoniously in a team of colleagues of varied cultural and professional backgrounds;
- Proven ability to produce quality work accurately and concisely according to set deadlines;
- Practical experience of how to multi-task, prioritize and work independently;
- Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English; working knowledge of French an asset.

Languages
- Fluency in English is required and knowledge of French or Spanish is an advantage.
