Context:
Under direct supervision of the Head of Office, and in close coordination and under the technical supervision of the Disaster Risk Management (DRM) Project Manager based in IOM Maputo, Mozambique, as well as relevant units of Regional Office (RO) Pretoria the successful candidate will be responsible for supervising the implementation of all project activities in Botswana.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
1. Support the effective and timely programmatic, administrative and financial implementation of the 'Camp Coordination Camp Management (CCCM) and Disaster Risk Management (DRM) Capacity Building Programme in Southern Africa - Phase II' project, in coordination with the relevant units;
2. Assist in the implementation of existing IOM projects in Botswana including on migration health, migration policy development and migrant assistance; identify implementation difficulties and propose remedial actions; aid with the compliance of IOM administrative and finance standards during programme implementation.
3. Supervise the work of project staff.
4. Assist in the timely reporting to donors and internal IOM units on project implementation.
5. Act as the monitoring and evaluation (M&E) and reporting focal point for the mission.
6. Represent IOM and participate in conferences, workshops, trainings and seminars.
7. Contribute to the planning and implementation of initiatives aimed at promoting IOM image and activities in Botswana.
8. Assist in establishing and maintaining the relationship with the Government of the Republic of Botswana (GoB) and the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) Secretariat based in Botswana.
9. Liaise regularly with the IOM Regional Office for Southern Africa for updated progress of activities, exchange of information, good practices and lessons learnt. In addition, liaise, in coordination with the CoM with the project/programme partners, such as governmental authorities, and diplomatic missions, UN agencies, partners and international cooperating partners.
10. Contribute to the project development efforts for the continuation of existing projects as well as new projects in the related field. Undertake duty travel relating to project/programme assessment, liaison with counterparts, problem solving and new project/programme development, as required.
11. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

• Master's degree in Social or Political Science, International Relations, Development Studies, Law or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or
• University degree in the above fields with four years of relevant professional experience.
Experience:
• Experience in project management and project development;
• Experience in project reporting, M & E and resources management;
• Experience in facilitation of events and liaison with governments, UN agencies and international cooperating partners;
• Strong knowledge of project development and implementation processes in international organizations;
• Thorough knowledge of Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM), capacity building and DRM issues in Southern Africa Region specifically in Namibia;
• Previous working experience in Africa is an advantage.
Languages:
Fluency in English is required.
