Org. Setting and Reporting

These positions are located in Peacekeeping Missions and Special Political Missions. Applicants will be expected to serve in hardship duty stations with difficult working and living conditions. The Human Resources Officer P-4 encompasses sub-functional specialties such as recruitment and placement, administration of entitlements, human resources planning, and staff development and career support. Depending on the size of the mission, the Human Resources Officer can serve as Chief of Unit or Section.

Education

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in human resources management, business or public administration, social sciences, education or related field. A first-level university degree with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work Experience

A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in human resources management, administration or related area is required. Experience in the application of human resources management policies and practices is required. International experience is required. Experience working in field operations is highly desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in oral and written English is required. Working knowledge of French is highly desirable.
