Part-Time: Student Assistants (10 Vacancies)

The Disability Support Services Unit is a student support structure with a commitment to providing wider access, high quality, and innovative services to students with disabilities. Employment opportunities exist for enthusiastic, reliable and exceptional individuals to join our dynamic disability service provision team to develop the range and depth of their talents.
Main purpose of the job: To participate as part of the disability service provision team in the delivery of a top notch support service for students with disabilities.
Requirements: Applicants must:
i) Be Full-time undergraduate students of the University of Botswana,
ii) Have excellent interpersonal skills,
iii). Minimum GPA 3.5 and preferred experience working and supporting with students with disabilities will be an added advantage.

Desirables qualities:
i) Persistent, Customer-driven, Responsible, Conscientious, Reliable, Empathetic
ii) Have proficient knowledge of ICT,
iii) Ability to establish positive working relationship with students with disabilities,
iv) Be self-driven with excellent work ethics and vi) Experience in participating in student activities and volunteer work.
vii) Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality
Duties include:
• Assisting with literature searches and scribing academic work for the students.
• Photocopying and retrieving books for students who cannot access library shelves, catalogues, periodical indices, or other research material.
• One-on-one interaction with students with disabilities as a reader, scribe, guide, note taker and study strategies mentor.
• Providing reliable, comprehensive notes to the student.
• Participate in learner support meetings and departmental events as assigned by supervisor
