The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the world’s leading organization working for the rights of children, is seeking a dynamic and highly qualified individual to provide UNICEF management with internal audit and investigation services that cover all aspects of the organization’s operational and programmatic work.
The Director keeps management informed of audit and investigation findings, and recommends improvements to increase the effectiveness of governance, risk management and control processes in UNICEF’s activities.
S/he plans, directs and reviews the activities of the Office of Internal Audit and Investigations and establishes objectives, priorities and procedures for the work of the Office, which consists of assurance, advisory and investigation services. The Director is also a member of the Global Management Team.
We are seeking a leader with extensive team management experience, a high sense of integrity, excellent communication skills and a commitment to UNICEF’s mission. Fluency in English is required and a working knowledge of at least one other UN Official language would be an asset.
Qualifications:
Strong academic and professional credentials, including a university degree in a relevant field combined with appropriate professional qualifications (e.g. Certified Public Accountant, Chartered Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor or equivalent) from reputable professional bodies, and preferably an advanced university degree.

Minimum Requirements:
At least 15 years’ progressively responsible experience and demonstrated technical competence in audit, a significant part of it in an international environment. Experience in managing investigations is desirable.

Demonstrated ability to manage a large complement of multidisciplinary staff in a multicultural environment.
Audit experience with the United Nations system or a multilateral or bilateral development organization is an advantage.
