Purpose of the Position
Under the general guidance of the Chief, Operational Analysis & Technology Centre (OATC), the ICT Specialist (Infrastructure) is responsible for design, installation and operations of Supply Division hardware and software infrastructure.
Key Expected Results
1. END-RESULTS:
- Technical infrastructure and application services are provided to Supply Division users as per defined and agreed service level agreements.
- Systems, Storage, Network are designed, installed, secured and maintained to host and run applications to support Supply Division business operations.
- Supply Division is aligned with global ICT standards and policies for hardware, software and enterprise level information security.
- Effective working partnerships with UN City ICT in Copenhagen and ITSSD resulting in a well-managed technical infrastructure services in Supply Division.
2. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES and DUTIES & TASKS:
- In coordination with UN City ICT, provide Supply Division with reliable network services to access local and corporate applications. Network services include maintaining, supporting and monitoring local area networks both wired and wireless, internet connectivity both wired and wireless, IP telephony (specifically CISCO) and remote access.
- Participate in the annual ICT disaster recovery, business continuity and security assessment exercises in Supply Division along with UN City ICT annually and/or as scheduled.
- Work in close coordination with ITSSD release management to adequately patch and secure operating systems, network and applications in Supply Division and ensure alignment with hardware, software standards, global ICT policies and guidelines.
- Liaise with ITSSD in the areas of technical architecture, operations and security and application development to create, enable, monitor and maintain cloud based solutions & services for Supply Division. This includes Office 365 SharePoint online, identity management for authentication & access, Microsoft Azure Infrastructure as a Service and potentially other cloud services in the future.
- Under the guidance of ITSSD install and maintain application development platforms as identified/required in Supply Division to develop & manage document workflows, intranet and partner applications.
- Install and maintain dual-site highly available server, storage and backup infrastructure on premises as required to support Supply Division with file & print services, web content management, document management and web & mobile applications.
- Manage divisional & centre procedures that governs systems, storage, network and security services.
- Manage the evaluation of new IT technologies in relationship to Supply Division requirements together with ITSSD.
- Provide guidance to the two GS-6 posts (IT Assistants) in the Technical Support Unit to resolve technical issues related to infrastructure operations in Supply Division. Provide second level technical support to Supply Division help desk team.
- Perform effective management and development of staff under supervision.
